# Test your integration in the Bitliva sandbox

> Use sandbox mode to create test customers, simulate crypto deposits, and fire webhooks before you go live with the Bitliva Merchant API.

The sandbox lets you build and test a full Bitliva integration before you go live. You can create test customers, simulate crypto deposits that credit their balance, and receive the same webhooks you will get in production.

## Sandbox limits

* You can create up to 5 customers. After that, [creating a customer](https://docs.bitliva.com/api-reference/customers-create.md) returns `customer_limit_reached`.
* Responses report `"mode": "test"`, so you can confirm which environment you are in with [`GET /me`](https://docs.bitliva.com/api-reference/me).

## Simulate a crypto deposit

In the sandbox there is no real chain to send funds from. Instead, call [`POST /sandbox/customers/{id}/deposits`](https://docs.bitliva.com/api-reference/sandbox-deposit) to credit a customer's test balance. The customer must already have an address for that coin and network.

```bash theme={null}
curl -X POST https://merchant.bitliva.com/api/v1/sandbox/customers/$CUSTOMER_ID/deposits \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $BITLIVA_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"currency": "usdt", "network": "trc20", "amount": 25}'
```

```json theme={null}
{
  "status": "success",
  "message": "Deposit simulated.",
  "data": {
    "deposit": {
      "id": "5b8f0e2d-1c64-4a0f-8d77-3a9e2c1b6f40",
      "customer_id": "2f6d1c0a-8a3e-4d59-b8a1-71e0c4d5f9a3",
      "currency": "usdt",
      "network": "trc20",
      "amount": "25",
      "address": "sandbox_usdt_9f2c1d...",
      "txid": "4c1e9a07d3b25f8e61a0c9d7b4e2f3a58c1d6e0b9f7a4c2d3e5b8a1f0c6d9e72",
      "explorer_url": "https://tronscan.org/#/transaction/4c1e9a07d3b25f8e61a0c9d7b4e2f3a58c1d6e0b9f7a4c2d3e5b8a1f0c6d9e72",
      "created_at": "2026-10-18T10:20:00+01:00"
    }
  }
}
```

The call fires a `crypto.deposit.received` webhook. The `txid` is random, so its explorer link will not resolve. Outside the sandbox this endpoint returns `sandbox_only`.

## Test your webhook endpoint

1. Add your endpoint in the dashboard.
2. Press **Send test** to deliver a `webhook.test` event.
3. Confirm that you verify the [signature](https://docs.bitliva.com/guides/webhooks.md) and answer with a `2xx` status.
4. Simulate a deposit to receive a real `crypto.deposit.received` event.

## Before you go live

Live access needs a verified business. Until your business is verified, or if the account is suspended, live requests return `live_not_enabled`.
